ACCIO Generalitat de Catalunya - LUCY

Long-term Underwater ThermoeleCtric EnergY

The objective of LUCY is to develop a unique system for harnessing hydrothermal energy in deep waters, designed to provide continuous power to scientific instruments and permanent stations, such as those used for research in Earth sciences and climate change, while significantly minimizing its own carbon footprint.

PLOATECH is the coordinator of the LUCY project. Additionally, through various work packages, it is responsible for:

  • The design and development of machinery for a new submarine heat exchange and energy conversion system.
  • The design and development of a new modular system for thermoelectric energy conditioning.
  • The development of prototypes.
